Live figure model(s) will be provided for participants to draw from for regular drawing from observation practice & maintenance. This Open Studio is available to support observational drawing practice for independent working artists (professionals and avocation-based), drawing students at all levels of study, those who work in related media like sculpture or painting, and those who draw for pleasure or as a meditative practice. Artist Ernie Sandidge will work with the model in setting poses, time-lines and breaks, and generally monitor the class. Courteous conduct towards model, monitor and other participants is expected and required during each of the sessions.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Ernie Sandidge is a founder of La Azotea School of Art in Seville, Spain as well as a Founding Director of the Governor’s Island Art Fair in New York. Beginning at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, he continued his studies at the Institiuto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico, received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and his Graduate Certificate from the New York Studio School. He has lived, worked and exhibited throughout the US, Europe and Mexico and received First Prize in the National Art Competition from North Carolina State University, The James Amster Memorial Award from the National Arts Club, residencies at the Art Center South Florida and the Armory Art Center.
