As well as providing juried exhibition spaces to independent artists,
The 4heads Collective opens its doors to galleries and arts organizations interested in exhibiting in this year's Governors Island Art Fair.
Galleries interested in participating may contact us here.
The event is held over 4 weekends, from September 4th to 26th, 2010 on Governors Island, New York City. This historic island is only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan and is perhaps the very last great expanse of undeveloped space for public use in New York City. It is accessible via a free 5-minute ferry ride featuring spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn, the bridges and downtown Manhattan.

The exhibition space of The Governors Island Art Fair is housed in a landmark army barracks. Each participant is given their own room to design as they please with the option of open space outdoors for sculpture. All of the spaces included in the exhibition will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday in September (4th-26th) during park hours, 11am to 6pm. Performances and special events will also be included on each of the 8 days.
The 4heads Collective believes that every aspect of this fair should be handled in a spirit of cooperation. Therefore our fees for exhibition space are well below the rate charged at other art fairs, making The Governors Island Art Fair accessible to a wide selection of galleries.
In addition to the attendance that The Governors Island Art Fair generates, the island as a historical park destination brings in over 20,000 visitors each weekend.
For the public this is an opportunity to view and collect the latest artwork from some of the best independent artists and galleries from around the world.
For questions regarding spaces, rates and services, please contact Sandra Nydegger at gallery@4heads.org.
